2005 F1 Season Finished
@ Monday, Oct. 17, 2005 - 12:41:03 pmIt's that time of year, folks. October, and the F1 season has finished for another year. Winter is bad enough. Winter without F1 is torture. Still, at least we have A1GP and Grand Prix Masters to look forward to this year.

Fernando Alonso, World Champion. Well done, young man
He showed maturity and skill beyond his years, winning in a car which was not the fastest. Very refreshing for Formula One. This man and his closest rival, Kimi Raikonnen, will be at the pinnacle of F1 for years ![]()
Not a good year for my favourite team, Williams, however. Mediocre (perhaps disastrous for a team with so much heritage and talent as Williams) resulted in divorce from BMW. They will need to raise their game if they wish to avoid the fate of other once-great teams such as Lotus, Brabham and Tyrell.
For my favourite driver, David Coulthard, it was a good year where he regained his reputation and drove to a consistently high standard with particularly excellent results in Melbourne and at the Nurburgring

My distaste for Ferrari and Michael Schumacher meant that I had much to cheer about. However, I do hope they are in the mix next year, simply because this would be a great sporting spectacle. Provided they narrowly lose, of course
Watch out for my full season review in the near future where I will evaluate the performance of all the teams and drivers!
